Ishtiaq Ahmed was wrongfully convicted in 1991 of murdering David Pickering in Reading, in what became known as the "bedsit murder". Ishtiaq was sentenced to life imprisonment on the basis of evidence from one witness.

This key witness has since contacted the family admitting that she lied in court, and clearly identifying the actual murderer.

What appears to be a botched investigation by the Criminal Cases Review Commission led to an unsuccessful appeal.
